NISMO Makes Three Consecutive Podium Finishes Staying true to its commitment to win another Team Championship this year, NISMO claimed its third consecutive podium finish in the first three races of the 2006 Super GT Series. NISMO is the only team to have made three consecutive podium finishes in the first three races of the season.
In the third race held at the Fuji Speedway last May 4, 2006, the XANAVI NISMO Z driven by Satoshi Motoyama and Tsugio Matsuda finished third in spite of having to start from 15th place in the starting grid. It was a splendid finish for the XANAVI NISMO Z, which had to undergo finetuning up to the last hours prior to the race, due to an engine change undertaken on the racecar.
Motoyama and Matsuda are now third overall in the driver standings, with only two points separating them from the second placers.
"The Fuji Speedway race was a tough one, considering the XANAVI NISMO Z had to start from the last place in the GT500 starting grid. But that only proved that the XANAVI NISMO 350Z is one formidable machine that the rest of the competitors must respect all throughout," explained Raymond Tribdino, Senior Manager for Market and Product Planning at Nissan Motor Philippines, Inc. (NMPI).
It can be recalled that Motoyama and Matsuda piloted their XANAVI NISMO Z to 2nd place in the opening race of the Super GT Series held at the Suzuka Circuit last March 19, 2006.
In the 2nd race of the season held at the Okayama International Circuit last April 9, 2006, the MOTUL AUTECH Z driven by Michael Krumm and Sakon Yamamoto rallied from 7th place to finish 3rd, registering NISMO's 2nd consecutive podium finish this year.
With six more races to go, NISMO believes it has a great chance to win its 4th consecutive Team Championship in the 2006 Super GT Series, which has seen the entry of formidable contenders, like the Lexus SC430s of the Open Interface Tom's and Bandai Direzza racing teams.

NISMO's dominance of the Super GT Series in the past years, and its impressive showings in the first three races of the 2006 season are a result of intensive research and development, which is also applied by NISMO to its aftermarket parts sold in the many markets worldwide.
In the Philippines, NMPI offers NISMO parts for its Sentra and X-TRAIL, giving its buyers and owners of the option of improving the looks and handling of their Nissan compact sedan or SUV.
Offered for the Sentra and X-TRAIL are the following NISMO parts: S-tune shock absorbers; rear and front bumper spoilers; free-flow air filter; wheel nut set, radiator cap, fuel filler cap and air valve caps. The X-TRAIL can also be fitted with NISMO 18-inch rims with Dunlop high performance tires. On the other hand, the Sentra can also be fitted with a strut tower bar, duck tail, side skirts and Ray's Engineering "United Arrows" 17-inch rims from Japan wrapped with Dunlop high performance tires.
"The performance of NISMO in the Super GT Series clearly shows the company puts a lot of passion into its racing activities, which in turn generates tremendous benefits in the development of aftermarket parts for various Nissan vehicles like the Sentra and X-TRAIL," Mr. Tribdino said.(NMPI News Service)
