Nissan's VQ engine receives Wards's 10-Best Engines Award
In an unprecedented event, Nissan's legendary VQ-series 3.5L DOHC V-6 engine seizes its 13th consecutive Ward's 10 Best Engines honor. The VQ series engine is the only engine that has been part of the list every year since the award has been presented. This famed engine is acknowledged as one of the best six-cylinder engine designs in the automotive world.
The VQ-series engine is offered in a variety of Nissan and Infiniti vehicles. The award-winning 3.5L DOHC V-6 engine powers the soul of the Murano and the 350Z. Both vehicles pride on aesthetic appeal coupled with powerful driving performance.
With its unique design of clean lines flowing nicely over rounded corners and angles, the Murano's styling remains ageless. It is one of Nissan's vehicles that demonstrates what the "revived" brand is all about - bold products with thoughtful engineering. Equipped with Continuously Variable-valve Timing Control (CVTC) and Nissan Induction Control System (NICS), the engine produces 234PS at 6,000rpm and 32.4 kg-m of torque at 3,600rpm. Its X-tronic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) with six-speed manual mode assures smooth delivery of power to all four wheels.
The same power runs through Nissan's renowned 350Z. Running at 206Kw at 6200rpm, 363Nm of torque at 4800rpm, it is a testament to Nissan's racing heritage and experience coupled with microscopic attention to detail.
Sharing this famed engine heritage is Nissan's next luxury sedan, the Teana. The powerful VQ23DE engine of the Teana delivers solid driving performance in all situations, from in-town driving to high-speed cruising. It is an advanced luxury sedan built on purposeful design, real world technology and impeccable quality.

Voting for the best engines was a team of ten editors and writers for Ward's AutoWorld magazine and Ward's Engine & Vehicle Technology Update newsletter. The Award was presented last January 9, 2007 at the Renaissance Center Marriott during the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
